ASUS Zenfone 5z Is Here, All You Need to Know!


ASUS has been teasing a “product reveal” since the past few days, and it has been mentioning the product as “Flagship Redefined”. Now, the company has revealed that it will launch the ASUS Zenfone 5z in India, and it will be sold exclusively through Flipkart. The ASUS Zenfone 5z is the Taiwanese company’s latest flagship smartphone, and it was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress 2018 expo in Barcelona, Spain in February 2018.
ASUS Zenfone 5z: Launch Date, Price In India
Now, ASUS has announced that the Zenfone 5z will be launched in India on the 4th of July 2018, and will be a Flipkart-exclusive smartphone. While the pricing or availability hasn’t been announced, the smartphone’s pricing and sale date will be announced at 12 PM on July 04, 2018.
It is being rumoured that ASUS is planning to price the Zenfone 5z extremely competitively, and might match or undercut the pricing of the OnePlus 6, which is currently one of the cheapest smartphones in the country which is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.
ASUS Zenfone 5z: Specifications
The ASUS Zenfone 5z has a 6.2-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution, a pixel density of 402ppi, 18.7:9 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The screen, which can cover up to 95% of DCI-P3 colour gamut, has a notch. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo-based ZenUI 5.0 interface and is equipped with the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.
While the Taiwanese brand has unveiled multiple memory configurations of the smartphone, including the one with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, it has not revealed which variants will it launch in the price-sensitive Indian market. It has been launched globally in three variants: 4GB RAM+64GB storage, 6GB RAM+128GB storage, and 8GB RAM+256GB storage. It is also compatible with microSD cards, and it can be inserted in the SIM 2 slot, much like many dual-SIM Android smartphones in the market.
In the imaging department, the ASUS Zenfone 5z features a 12MP+8MP dual-camera setup at its rear. The 12MP camera uses a 1/2.55-inch sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 24mm wide angle lens, 1.4µm pixels, OIS, gyro-based EIS, and phase-detection autofocus (PDAF). The 8MP camera with 1/4-inch sensor has PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 1.12µm pixels, gyro-based EIS. The rear-facing dual-camera setup can record 4K videos at 30fps as well as 720p slow-motion videos at 240fps. The 8MP camera sensor is exactly similar to the 8MP sensor on the rear, with the exception of being that it has a fixed focal length.
It’s a dual-SIM smartphone with 4G LTE and VoLTE connectivity. Other wireless and wired connectivity features include GPS/A-GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi a/g/b/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone also features dual-stereo speakers, DTS Headphone X audio, and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. The ASUS Zenfone 5z has a 3300mAh battery, and is compatible with 18W fast charging.
